Top Ten Tuesday: Most Anticipated Books for the First Half of the Year

It's always exciting thinking of all the good books coming out the first half of 2023. I have a  v e r y  long list, but I have narrowed it down to my top ten books. Towards the end of the list, you'll see some much anticipated beach reads! Let me know if any of your picks for the first half of the year have made my list.

1.  Stars in an Italian Sky by Jill Santopolo (February)

This book had me at star-crossed lovers in post WWII Italy. Much to my dismay, I also have never read Santopolo's novels, even though I own one that is currently collecting dust on my bookshelf.

2.  The Woman with the Cure by Lynn Cullen (February)

Cullen is an amazing author and I look forward to learning more about the woman behind the polio vaccine.

3.  Loyalty by Lisa Scottoline (March)

Ohhh! The mafia in Sicily! This sounds really compelling. I can't say I have read too many books that take place in Sicily.

4.  Happy Place by Emily Henry (April)

Henry never disappoints. Her books are the perfect summertime reads to kick off beach read season!

5.  Homecoming by Kate Morton (April)

It's been awhile since I've read a Morton novel and like many of the other authors on this list, she doesn't disappoint. I really enjoy her historical mysteries and can't wait to dive into this one.

6.  Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune (May)

It's Fortune's second novel (her first, Every Summer After, was my favorite book of 2022!), so needless to say, I'm here for it. Also, that cover!

7.  The Secret Book of Flora Lea by Patti Callahan Henry (May)

I adore Henry's writing style, so I am excited to check out this book that involves the power of storytelling and the English countryside during WWII. And would you look at the cover?

8.  The Beach at Summerly by Beatriz Williams (June)

I'll read anything Williams writes. I adore her historical beach reads and this one sounds promising. It takes place in mid-century New England and there's Cold War intrigue!

9.  The Five-Star Weekend by Elin Hilderbrand (June)

It's Elin Hilderbrand. I don't even know what this is about, but she is at the top of her game and I'll read anything she writes. Her beach reads are something I always look forward to.

10.  Same Time Next Summer by Annabel Monaghan (June)

I really enjoyed Monaghan's debut last year, so I've had my eye on this beach read that is being dubbed the ultimate summer nostalgia read. Yes, please!

In the comments below, let me know what books you are looking forward to reading the first half of this year. Did you any any of my books to your TBR list? This feature is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

  3. I’m very curious about The Woman With the Cure as well. Our grandparents and other relatives lived in such a different world back before we had vaccines for stuff like polio.
