April Confessions

I had hoped to read a lot more than I actually read this month, but as I mentioned last month, my attention span is truly suffering.  Who is with me? Also, I am "homeschooling" my two kids and I haven't got as much time to read. In fact, I don't have much time to myself at all.  All you moms out there understand completely, right?

Well, my hope is that all these amazing beach reads that are on my TBR list for May excite me to get back into more of a reading schedule and spend less time watching Netflix.  Plus, I have my Summer Kickoff feature coming up. Who is excited? I could use a beach read right now even if the beaches are closed.

Books Read in April:
1.  The Ancestor by Danielle Trussoni (Adult Fiction) - 3.5 out of 5 stars
2.  Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng (Adult Fiction/Audio Book) - 4.5 out of 5 stars
3.  The Summer Villa by Melissa Hill (Adult Fiction) - 3.5 out of 5 stars
4.  The Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany by Lori Nelson Spielman  (Adult Fiction) 3.5 out of 5 stars (Review to come)
5.  The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd (Adult Historical Fiction) - 4.5 out of 5 stars (Review to come)

Chapter Books:
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling

Did Not Finish:
House of Blood and Earth by Sarah J. Maas (Audio Book/Adult Fantasy)

1. Favorite Book:  I thought The Book of Longings was fantastic. I love a feminist take on the Bible and the idea that Jesus could have had a wife.  Sue Monk Kidd never disappoints!

2.  Biggest Surprise:  Little Fires Everywhere was such a nice surprise. I listened to the audio book and I found it really compelling.

3.  Biggest Disappointment: I wasn't overly disappointed with any novels this month, but The Ancestor did take an unexpected turn that I wasn't completely ready for.

4.  Favorite Post:  Giveaway: The Sweeney Sisters

5.  Favorite Part of April:  Life has been strange, hasn't it? We celebrated my son's 4th birthday and while we weren't on vacation like we had planned and we didn't have a big family party, we still found a way to appreciate the little things and celebrate his birthday.

How have you all been holding up? What was your favorite book of the month? Let me know in the comments below.  I hope May brings more sunshine and good books!

  2. Happy birthday to your son! I hope May is a better reading month for you! My attention span was also not great last month. I ended up reading a bunch of short, easy books.
