February Confessions

It didn't really feel like a true winter this season here in Pennsylvania. We didn't get a significant snowfall, but it was kind of nice to have some mild days.  I did get a good amount of reading done (for me!), so I am pretty happy with my reading month.

I am getting excited just thinking about spring weather and all those great beach reads waiting for me on my shelf. Who is with me?

Books Read in February:
1.  Winter Stroll (Winter Street #2) by Elin Hilderbrand (Adult Fiction) - 4 out of 5 stars
2.  Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly (Audio Book/Adult Historical Fiction) - 4 out of 5 stars
3.  The Dutch House by Ann Patchett (Adult Historical Ficton) - 4 out of 5 stars
4.  The Map From Here to There by Emery Lord (YA Realistic Fiction) - 3.5 out of 5 stars
5.  The Borgia Confessions by Alyssa Polumbo (Adult Historical Fiction) - 4 out of 5 stars
6.  The Girl in White Gloves by Kerri Maher (Adult Historical Fiction) - 4 out of 5 stars - Review to come!
7.  American Royals by Katherine McGee (YA Fiction) - 4 out of 5 stars - Review to come!

Chapter Books:
The Bad Beginning (A Series of Unfortunate Events #1) by Lemony Snicket - 4 out of 5 stars
The Reptile Room (A Series of Unfortunate Events #2) by Lemony Snicket - 4 out of 5 stars
The Wide Window (A Series of Unfortunate Events #3) by Lemony Snicker - 3 out of 5 stars

DNF -
Wife After Wife by Oliva Hayfield - This one had a fun premise, but it was too surface level for me. I felt like the author glossed over things a little too much, so I set it aside for another time. I am not sure I am in the right mood for it. If you have read it, let me know what you think!

1. Favorite Book:  I absolutely loved The Dutch House. It was a really great read and one that was written so very well. I can easily see why it was so popular last year.

2.  Biggest Surprise:  The Girl in White Gloves was fantastic, especially if you are a fan of Grace Kelly. I thought I knew a lot about her, but this book definitely gave me a lot to think about.

3.  Biggest Disappointment: I was a little bit disappointed by The Map From Here to There only because I loved the first book in the series and this sequel was just ok.

4.  Favorite Post:  Children's Book Round-up (12)

5.  Favorite Part of February:  We didn't get any substantial snow, so it was a bit disappointing for my kids, but I loved all the mild weather we got here in PA.  We were able to go to the park a lot, take hikes at local state parks, and bike all around the neighorhood.  We are ready for spring though!

What books did you read this month? Let me know your favorite in the comments below.

  1. I wish we had gotten more snow, too! It makes me a little worried about how hot the summer will be!

    1. I know, right? I love hot weather though except it would be better to suffer though a heat wave at the shore. Thanks for visiting, Angela!

  3. I have loved the mild winter too! I definitely am not sad about no snow so far. My favorite book this month was All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover. It had been sitting on my shelf for a while, so I am so glad I finally got to it!

  4. We got a couple of cold days, but it was back to sunny in the high 40s todah. We had one snow day, which was nice, but very mild. I still haven't gotten to The Map From Here to There. Bummer it was a disappointment. C'mon spring!
