Friday Five and a Giveaway (42)

Happy Friday! Sometimes I like to talk about what I am currently into that is not necessarily book related. Here's what I have been up to/thinking about/enjoying lately.

1.  Before I Fall - I read this YA book years ago and really enjoyed it. I was nervous to watch the big screen adaptation for it, but was pleasantly surprised. I think it offered way more to think about than the usual teen movie. Have you guys seen the movie or read the book?

2.  Outlander - They released the season three trailer not too long ago. Did you guys see it? What do you think? Voyager, book three in the series), is one of my favorites (so far), so I am excited to see how it translates to the screen.

3.  My Son's Birthday - We have been celebrating my son's birthday the past few days; I can't believe he is five years old. The time has just flown by.  He requested a boardwalk themed birthday with ferris wheel and beachy decorations. The beach bum in me was so excited! His family party was last night and it was a blast.

4.  Game of Thrones -  I am so happy it's back on. What have you guys thought so far? I thought the season premiere was outstanding. Confession time. For some strange reason, I am secretly rooting for Cersei.  I think she is such a compelling, yet entirely despicable character, which makes her super entertaining.

5.  Giveaway for All Things New by Lauren Miller - Thanks to Three Saints Press, I have an extra ARC of this book, which comes out August 1st.

Goodreads says, "Jessa has always felt broken inside, but she’s gotten very good at hiding it. No one at school knows about the panic attacks, the therapy that didn't help, the meds that haven’t worked. But when a severe accident leaves her with a brain injury and visible scars, Jessa’s efforts to convince the world that she’s okay finally crumble—now she looks as shattered as she feels.  Fleeing from her old life in Los Angeles, Jessa moves to Colorado to live with her dad, where she meets Marshall, a boy whose kindness and generous heart slowly draw Jessa out of her walled-off shell and into the broken, beautiful, real world—a place where souls get hurt just as badly as bodies, and we all need each other to heal. ALL THINGS NEW is a love story about perception and truth, physical and emotional pain, and the messy, complicated people we are behind the masks we put on for the world, perfect for fans of ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES and THE FAULT IN OUR STARS."
My giveaway is open to US readers. Please refer to my giveaway rules and the deadline is August 6th. Good luck!

Happy Friday,

  1. Ha! Cersei is actually my favourite character! Everyone I tell totally side-eyes me because of this! I am pretty sure she'll die a gruesome death sometime soon. Boo! I added Before I Fall to my to-watch on Netflix. I started the book last year but couldn't really get into it at the time.

    1. YES! I love that she's your favorite as well. I can't wait to tell my husband b/c he thinks it's just me who loves her and that I am super weird. Haha. I am worried about her fate as well. :( Let me know what you think of the movie. I thought it was decent for a teen movie. Thanks for visiting, Leanna!

I really appreciate your comments. Thank you!
