Sunday Post (9)

It has been a few weeks since my last "Sunday Post," so this one will include two weeks worth of posts.  This meme is hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Book Review: Between Two Fires by Mark Noce
Waiting on Wednesday: The Names They Gave Us
Book Review: Jewels of the Sun by Nora Roberts

I've got a great spooky giveaway coming up this week on the blog. I have teamed up with Workman Publishing to host an awesome Halloween giveaway for the little one in your life. Each book has been reviewed by my sons and let me tell you, they love them! Even my little guy loves the Sandra Boynton book that's included in the Halloween prize package, so keep your eyes out for that giveaway. I also FINALLY got around to reading An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. After John Green was singing its praises, I knew I had to get my hands on a copy. I was in somewhat of a reading slump and this one totally resuscitated me.  I'll be sharing my thoughts on this bestseller this week.

Something in Between by Melissa de la Cruz - Thanks to Harlequin Teen
Victoria by Daisy Goodwin - Thank to St. Martin's and NetGalley

The winners of Two By Two by Nicholas Sparks are...

 Renate and Allison B.

Congrats! I hope you enjoy the book!

Have you read any of these books or are they on your TBR list? Let me know your thoughts! Thanks for visiting!

  1. I'm looking forward to reading Victoria and watching the miniseries on PBS this January. I have an ARC of Something in Between but I couldn't get into it. I hated the weird text message parts. Glad you liked An Ember in the Ashes. It was an engrossing story though I was really frustrated with Laia. She was kind of a helpless whiny victim for much of the book but I think things should get better in the sequel. I still need to read it!

    1. Me too! SOOO Excited for it, Christina! I couldn't really get into it either. I have struggled with de la Cruz's writing style in the past, so the book really isn't for me. I am giving away my copy with the hopes that someone else will appreciate it. I agree about Ember. I just wrote my review a few days ago and the parts of the book that I struggled with were when Laia was helpless. Definitely frustrating! Thanks for visiting!

    1. It definitely pulled me out of my reading slump despite a few issues I had with it. It's very fast-paced and action packed, so I was hooked. Thanks for visiting, Greg!

  4. I did not have a good time reading Ember in the Ashes. Everyone seems to love it so something is probably wrong with me. Lol.

I haven't read these two books, but I'm curious about that Melissa deal Cruz one. I know it's about a Filipina character and since I'm from the Philippines, it's a given thing that I must read it. :)

    Have a great week, Christina!

    1. Yes, I had some issues with it as well (Laia!), but overall, I was entertained. I hope you Something in Between. The writing style wasn't for me, but it definitely had potential. I liked that it deals with immigration. Thanks for visiting, Joy!
