June Confessions

This has been a strange month for me. Normally I am all about June, but this month was like a rollercoaster for me...more on that later. Anyway, I am excited to finally get back into reading after the birth of my son.  I can't wait to get to all of those books in my beach bag!

Books Read in June:

1.  A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas - 4.5 out of 5 stars (YA/New Adult Fantasy)
2.  All Summer Long by Dorothea Benton Frank - 3.5 out of 5 stars (Adult Fiction)
3.  Wanderlost by Jen Malone - 4 out of 5 stars (YA Realistic Fiction)
4.  The Season of You and Me by Robin Constantine - 4.5 out of 5 stars (YA Realistic Fiction)
5.  The Weekenders by Mary Kay Andrews - 4 out of 5 stars (Adult Fiction)
6.  Summer in the Invisible City by Juliana Romano - 3.5 out of 5 stars (YA Realistic Fiction - review to come)
7.  One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid - 4.5 out of 5 stars (Adult Fiction - review to come)

1.  Favorite Book:   A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas - I am a huge fan of Sarah J. Maas. Whenever I am in a reading slump I can always count on her novels to get me out of them. I am loving this series! I also thoroughly enjoyed One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid - a perfect beach read!

2.  Biggest Surprise: The Season of You and Me by Robin Constantine - I have never read her novels before, but absolutely loved this one. Of course, I am a sucker for a great Jersey Shore setting, but these characters tugged on my heartstrings. Summer reading at its best!

3.  Biggest DisappointmentI can't say I have been overly disappointed by any novels this month; in fact, it has been awhile since I DNF a book.  However, I found parts of All Summer Long by Dorothea Benton Frank to be a bit disappointing. Some of the characters made me eye-roll all day long, especially the rich whiny ones.

4.  Favorite Post from JuneHistorical Beach Reads

5.  Favorite Part of June: Guys, I am not going to lie, but the start of this summer has been a rough one on me. I had to get my gallbladder out (less than two months after my c-section!) and things didn't go as planned. I had to have two surgeries (instead of one quick one) and it wasn't easy, especially recovering while taking care of an infant and a three year old.  All I can say is the rest of this summer better be go smoothly.  Is it vacation yet?

What were some of your favorite books that you read this month? Let me know!

  1. Yikes! I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer. Sounds like a stressful June! I hope you are fully recovered and feeling better.

I loved A Court of Mist and Fury too. So much more than the first book. I hope to read the Throne of Glass series this summer. Glad you loved One True Loves too. I want to read her other books sometime.

Have a happy Fourth of July! Can't believe July is here already. I have no plans for the long weekend as my parents are in Canada and my sister is on her way to New York. I do have plenty of good books to read :)

  2. Oh, wow! Your surgery sounds rough (and so soon after the baby!) I hope you are feeling better now and can enjoy the rest of summer. As for me, well, I was so enthusiastically greeted by my sisters dog today that I fell down a bunch of steps and now my arm is all messed up. :( I think this means he loves me...

I so agree with The Season of You and Me. So cute. I loved her debut 'The Promise of Amazing' too.
