September Confessions

Guys, I did NOT have a good reading month mostly because I was sick and when I am sick, surprisingly, I don't feel like reading. I sit on the couch and watch TV. I am now all caught up on Suits though.  Nonetheless, being sick really cut into my reading time.  Let's hope I manage to read more this October, because there are SO many awesome books coming out.

Books Read in September:
1.  The Shadows by Megan Chance - 3.5 out of 5 stars
2.  Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson - 4 out of 5 stars
3.  The Taming of the Queen by Philippa Gregory - 4 out of 5 stars
4.  Curiosity House: The Shrunken Head by Lauren Oliver and H.C. Chester - 3.5 out of 5 stars
5.  A Thousand Nights by E.K. Johnston - 3.5 out of 5 stars (review to come)

1.  Favorite Book:  Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson - I really enjoyed this tale about the Gold Rush and the Old West....such a unique setting for young adult literature.

2.  Biggest Surprise: The Shadows by Megan Chance - I loved the Irish folklore in this novel!

3.  Biggest Disappointment: A Thousand Nights was a little disappointing to me, because I was hoping to LOVE it, but for me, it was a struggle at times. Review to come later this week.

4.  Favorite Post from September: My Favorite Bookish Quotes

5.  Favorite Part of September: We took my little guy to Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, PA. He LOVED it and rode the big log flume for the first time.

What was one of your favorite books that you read this past month? Let me know.

  1. Sorry to hear you haven't been well. I hope you feel better now! I didn't have any great reads this month either, but I did enjoy Edgewater. 2015 has not been a great reading year for me so far but I'm hoping to fit in some great reads over the next couple months!

  2. I find it hard to read when I'm not feeling well too. Last time I had a cold I watched Anne of Green Gables and shows on Netflix. I stayed home sick and would have loved to read but just couldn't so I totally get that. I hope you are feeling better now and that October is a better reading month for you. It is that exciting time of year when all the big fall releases start rolling out.

I am glad Walk on Earth a Stranger made your favorite list but sad to hear that A Thousand Nights wasn't as good as you'd hoped. I liked The Wrath and the Dawn but wasn't sure if I'd like A Thousand Nights.

A favorite book I read this month is Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. If you haven't read it yet, I recommend it. :)

    1. I love Anne of Green Gables so, so much. I bought all the DVDs recently. Thanks, Christina! I am feeling a bit better. I think I would like The Wrath and the Dawn more than A Thousand Nights from what I have seen review wise. I will have to add Hotel on the Corner to my TBR list...it definitely sounds like a book I'd enjoy. Thanks for visiting, Christina!

  3. I'm the same way Christina - when I'm sick, I don't want to do anything but watch TV or movies. I hope you're feeling better!

I'm really bummed about A Thousand Nights, I had such high hopes for that one but all the early reviews I've read have been really meh. I think I'm going to pass on it for now, but I look forward to your full review:)

    1. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one when it comes to that. I was so looking forward to more reading time since I was sick, but I just couldn't do it. Yeah, A Thousand Nights wasn't my kind of read. It was beautifully written, but it fell short in a few areas for me. Thanks for visiting, Jenny!
