November Confessions

November was a whirlwind of a month for me, because I participated in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) and won! It took a lot of dedication on my part, a lot of early mornings, and a lot of coffee, but I did it!

Reading definitely took a back seat this month (*cue the tears*), so I only finished four books, which for me is abysmal. But I plan on getting back into my normal reading schedule this December and keep your eye out for some great holiday giveaways coming up soon and my blogoversary!

As I type this, I am looking at our fully decorated Christmas tree and mantelpiece. I can't believe the holidays are here! I better get started Christmas shopping!

Books Read in November:
1.  A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray - 4 out of 5 stars
2.  Forbidden by Kimberley G. Little - 4 out of 5 stars (Review to come)
3.  Voyager (Outlander #3) by Diana Gabaldon - 4.5 out of 5 stars (Review to come)
4.  Suspicion by Alexandra Monir - 3.5 out of 5 stars (Review to come)

1. Favorite Book: I loved Voyager by Diana Gabaldon. It's the third book in the Outlander series and somehow Gabaldon is still entertaining me with the adventures of Jamie and Claire. There were some farfetched scenes that weren't entirely believable as they were in Outlander, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this book. Plus, it's filling my Outlander void now that the TV show is on hiatus till April. *sob*

2.  Biggest SurpriseForbidden by Kimberely G. Little definitely took me by surprise. I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. I loved the heroine, her adventures, and the settings of the Mesopotamian desert.

3.  Biggest Disappointment: Suspicion by Alexandra Monir was unfortunately a disappointment for me. Don't get me wrong, I thought this books was entertaining overall, but I had hoped that I would have liked it a bit more than I did since I fell in love with Monir's debut, Timeless. The first half of Suspicion reminded me a bit of The Princess Diaries, which I wasn't really expecting, but I did like the rural England setting for the second half and the Downton Abbey vibe.

Thomas the Train at Strasburg Railroad
4.  Favorite Part of November: Thanksgiving was definitely a highlight for me this month, but we also took my little guy to Strasburg Railroad in a rural part of Pennsylvania to see Thomas the Train and take a ride in the coach cars. It was a blast and a very picturesque ride.

5.  Favorite Post:  My NaNoWriMo Update is my favorite post, because the changes I made this year proved to be worth it since I won and reached my goal of 50,000 words! Woo hoo!

Thanks for visiting! Let me know what book was your favorite that you read this month. Any recommendations?

  1. Well done on finishing NaNoWriMo. I'm so proud of us both! :D Are you going to keep working on your story?

I only read THREE books in November! :O

I was hoping for great things from Suspicion but from what you've said it seems like it might be a little young for my YA tastes.

    1. Thanks, Leanna! I am proud of both of us too! I think I will keep working on it, but I just have to find time. Without a deadline looming over my head, I am afraid it might get put on the back burner. What about you?
Thanks for visiting and congrats on Nano!

  3. Congratulations on winning NaNoWriMo! What an accomplishment!

I am glad you liked Voyager. I liked that one much more than the second book but Outlander is still my favorite of the series that I've read so far.

I can't believe Christmas is already here either. This year just flew by!
