October Confessions

Is it me or is the fall season on fast forward? I feel like this month just flew by! I hope everyone had a great Halloween!  Here's what I read this month.

1.  The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys (YA Historical Fiction) - 4.5 out of 5 stars
2.  Twice in a Blue Moon by Christina Lauren (Adult Fiction/Romance) - 4 out of 5 stars - Review to come!
3.  Marilla of Green Gables by Sarah McCoy (Adult Historical Fiction) - 4 out of 5 stars - Review to come!
4.  10 Blind Dates by Ashley Elston (YA Realistic Fiction) - 3.5 out of 5 stars - Review to come!
5.  The Chaperone by Laura Moriarity (Audio Book/Adult Historical Fiction) - 4 out of 5 stars - Review to come!

Chapter Books:
1.  Polly and Buster: The Mystery of the Magic Stones by Sally Rippin - 3.5 out of 5 stars
2.  Billy and the Mini Monsters: Monsters at Halloween - 3.5 out of 5 stars
3.  Runaway Ralph by Beverly Clearly - 4 out of 5 stars
4.  The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Clearly - 4 out of 5 stars
5.  The Binder of Doom: Brute-Cake by Troy Cummings - 3.5 out of 5 stars
6.  The Bad Guys in the Big Bad Wolf by Aaron Blabey - 3.5 out of 5 stars

1.  Favorite Book: Marilla of Green Gables was hands down my favorite book.  Anne of Green Gables holds such a special place in my heart, so I was very excited to revisit Avonlea and some of my favorite characters.  It didn't disappoint!

2.  Biggest Surprise:  The Fountains of Silence was so moving.  I wasn't sure I was going to like the setting of post-war Spain, but this is a testament to Sepetys' powerful writing.

3.  Biggest Disappointment: There were, surprisingly, no disappointments this month!

4.  Favorite Post:  The Fountains of Silence Blog Tour: 10 Reasons to Read It

5.  Favorite Part of October:  All you fall lovers out there are probably going to be rolling your eyes at me, but I loved the warm weather we experienced in PA this past month.  There will be plenty of time for snow and cold winds, so I enjoyed the last few days of warmer weather.

What was your favorite book you read this month?  Any disappointments? Let me know in the comments. I hope you guys had a great October.  Can you believe it's November?! I can't!

  1. This month flew by and I'm with you - I enjoyed it still being warmer outside! My favorite book in October was definitely Next Year in Havana.

  2. Fall does go too fast. Probably because it starts snowing here in early October. It feels like winter right now. Happy November!

  3. I agree, October went so fast! I like the crisper weather of fall, but I don't like freezing cold weather, so this was a pleasant month - except for all the rain!
