March Confessions

I feel like I had a pretty good mix of adult fiction and YA fiction this month. I also finished an audio book that I've been meaning to read forever. So, it's been a productive month. I may have even snuck some time to read outside. Who's ready for the upcoming warmer weather and reading some books outside? I am SO ready!

Books Read in March:
1.  Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid (Adult Fiction) - 4 out of 5 stars
2.  The Lieutenant's Nurse by Sara Ackerman (Adult Historical Fiction) - 4 out of 5 stars
3.  The Wicked Saints by Emily Duncan (YA Fantasy) - 3.5 out of 5 stars
4.  Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple (Adult Fiction/Audio Book) - 4 out of 5 stars
5.  Rise of the Evening Star (Fablehaven #2) by Brandon Mull (MG Fantasy) - 4 out of 5 stars
6.  Lovely War by Julie Berry (YA Historical Fiction) - 4.5 out of 5 stars

DNF:
The Parting Glass by Gina Marie Guadagnino

1.  Favorite BookLovely War by Julie Berry was such a captivating tale focusing on romance, friendship, and WWI. Berry was able to incorporate mythology successfully, too. It was definitely one of my favorite YA reads of the year.

2.  Most Disappointing Book:  The Wicked Saints wasn't as captivating as I would have hoped. It felt very formulaic at times and a bit too dark for me. Overall, it was an ok read, but not my favorite.

3.  Most Surprising Book:  The Lieutenant's Nurse surprised me the most. I thought I knew about most of the events surrounding Pearl Harbor and WWII, but Ackerman focused on some information I wasn't aware of and it was utterly captivating. This book made me want to plan another trip to Hawaii and tour Pearl Harbor again.

4.  Favorite Post from FebruaryBooks Set in Ireland

5.  Favorite Part of March:  Celebrating my birthday with my family was definitely my favorite part of March. We also got a few warm days to play outside with my kids and really enjoy the sunshine...it was only a taste of spring, but we are ready!

What were some of your favorite reads this month? Which books disappointed you?  Let me know in the comments below.
