October Confessions

Guys, I really can't believe it's already Halloween!?! I feel like October flew by and before we know it, it will be the holidays! Things need to slow down, right?

It was my goal this month to read one "spooky" read and The Witch of Willow Hall fit the bill. But the one thing that has me concerned is the fact that I haven't read a YA book this month. That's very unlike me, but lately, a lot of the YA books that are out haven't really spoken to me.  Hopefully I can fix that next month.

Books Read in October:
1.  The Lost Queen by Signe Pike (Adult Historical Fiction) - 3.5 out of 5 stars
2.  Bellewether by Susanna Kearsley (Adult Historical Fiction) - 3.5 out of 5 stars
3.  The Witch of Willow Hall by Hester Fox (Adult Historical Fiction) - 4 out of 5 stars
4.  The Wife Between Us by Sarah Pekkanen and Greer Hendricks (Adult Fiction) - 4 out of 5 stars (Review to come)
5.  Whiskey in a Teacup by Reese Witherspoon (Non-fiction) 4 out of 5 stars (Review to come)

1.  Favorite Book:  The Witch of Willow Hall was most definitely my favorite read of the month. I am so glad I saved this one for October. I can't handle anything too frightening, so this was perfect for me with the right amount of paranormal and historical elements.

2.  Biggest Disappointment: I definitely thought I'd like The Lost Queen more than I did. I love the Arthurian legend, but this one wasn't as compelling as I would have hoped. It was a decent read, but I won't be continuing with the series.

3.  Biggest Surprise: The Wife Between Us was so much fun! I am glad I finally took the time to read it since it seemed liked just about everyone recommended it to me! Sometimes you are in the mood for a twisty tale!

4.  Favorite Post: YA and Adult Fiction: Halloween Reads

5.  Favorite Part of October: The pumpkin patch, of course! I love picking out pumpkins with my little guys every year...such fun memories!

Happy Halloween!

  1. I feel the same way about the month going by so fast! Heck, it's November tomorrow and I'm so not ready. Thankfully, the weather hasn't turned up here so that's good.

Anyway, outstanding month! Still curious about that Arturian retelling.
