Books on the Big Screen (12)

It's been quite awhile since my last "Books on the Big Screen" post, so I thought I'd share with you all some books that are being made into TV shows as well as movies. There's some good ones coming out! Let me know which one you are looking forward to!

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle - 3/9
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli (Love, Simon) - 3/16

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline - 3/30
Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple - 5/11

Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan - 8/17
The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken - 9/14

Mary, Queen of Scots by John Guy - 11/2
How the Grinch Stole Christmas! by Dr. Seuss - 11/9

Mary Poppins by P.L. Travers - 12/25
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Annie Barrows and Mary Ann Shaffer

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (TV show coming to PBS)
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (TV show coming to HBO)

To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han
Ophelia by Lisa Klein

Monster by Walter Dean Myers
Between the Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys (Ashes in the Snow)

Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn (TV show coming to HBO)
Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler (TV show coming to Starz)

The Dangerous Book for Boys by Hal Iggulden (TV show coming to Amazon)
A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness (TV show coming to Sky1)

Eek! How exciting are some of these?! I am probably most excited for To All the Boys I've Loved Before and A Discovery of Witches. Let's hope A Discovery of Witches aires in the US sooner than later. I also hope to finally read Where'd You Go, Bernadette before the movie comes out. Which movies or TV shows are you most excited about?

  2. I hadn’t heard that Sweetbitter will be a film. Honestly, I’m excited for a lot of these. Most especially A Wrinkle in Time, which was a childhood favorite. But I’m also very curious to see Where’d You Go Bernadette and Guernsey translated to the big screen!

  3. I am probably most excited for Guernsey. I read it back in 2009 and have been waiting for it to be made into a movie for years! The trailer looks promising. My book group is reading that this month and hopefully we'll get to watch the movie together at some point.

I am also looking forward to the new Little Women adaptation and excited to hear that Between Shades of Gray will be made into a movie. I hope Hollywood does the story justice!

    1. Me too! That is so fun that your book club is reading it! I really enjoyed it when I read it way back when as well. Me too! So excited for Little Women. Can you believe that I haven't read Shades of Gray?!?! I need to make time, because I love her novels. Thanks for visiting, Christina!

  4. I'm super excited for a few of these, but especially Wrinkle in Time, Mary Poppins (so glad its a continued story and not a remake!), and the Little Women series! Thanks for sharing these, Christina---there were a few I didn't know about!
