What I'm Reading Next (7)

Alright, I am so ready for patio reading in the sunshine, but until then I will snuggle up by the fire with a good book. Here are the books that I hope to tackle this February. I am not sure I will get to them all, but ideally, this is what I'd love to read.

As Bright as Heaven by Susan Meissner - I love curling up with a historical novel in the winter. There's just something about it! This story takes place in Philadelphia (which isn't far from where I live) during the Spanish Flu Epidemic.

Island of Sweet Pies and Soldiers by Sara Ackerman - This book takes place on Hawaii during WWII. I am obsessed with Hawaii and I love the time period of WWII, so I think this is going to be a captivating read for me.  Also, can I be transported to that cover for just a little bit?

The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton -  This YA novel is getting a lot of buzz. It's set in a fantasy world where a group of women can control beauty, which is a high commodity. I'm not sure I like the focus on appearance, but I think it's an interesting concept.

The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah - It's Kristin Hannah. Need I say more? The Nightingale is one of my top ten favorite novels of all time, so I will read whatever she writes. I hope this one doesn't disappoint. It takes place in Alaska during the 70s and is about human survival and love.

The Queen's Rising by Rebecca Ross - I was hoping to start this YA novel last month, but never got around to it. I like the sound of this YA fantasy, so I will give it a try this month, although it is getting some mixed reviews.

Shadow of Night (All Souls #2) by Deborah Harkness - Guys, I really enjoyed A Discovery of Witches and I can't wait to find out what happens next.

What do you hope to read this month? Have you read any of these novels? Are you as ready for some spring weather as I am?

Happy Friday,

  2. I thought The Great Alone was really good. I want to read As Bright as Heaven.

I definitely can't wait for spring though I usually don't read outside. I sometimes think winter lasts twice as long as winter and spring! Hang in there :) I was just talking to my book group about how I need to find some beach books to read so I can at least escape to somewhere warm through my reading :)
