Adult Fiction - The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
YA Fiction - The Lake Effect by Erin McCahan

The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand - I couldn't get into this one despite the fact that I love Hand's writing style and A Christmas Carol.

 3. Most surprising (in a good way or bad way) book you read?

The Bourbon Kings by J.R Ward - plesantly surprised and entertained! I thought it would be too much of a "romance" novel for me, but it wasn't. It was so entertaining!

The Lake Effect by Erin McCahan

 5. Best series you started in 2017? Best Sequel of 2017? Best Series Ender of 2017?

The Bourbon King series is a new series I started that I probably will continue with. I really liked Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han, which is the final book in that series.

Karen White, Michelle Gable, and Kristy Woodson Harvey - all new to me authors whose books I thoroughly enjoyed.

7. Best book from a genre you don’t typically read/was out of your comfort zone?

I thought The Hating Game would be too much of a "romance" novel for me, but it was awesome! I'm so glad I stepped outside my comfort zone.

8. Most action-packed/thrilling/unputdownable book of the year?

Cocoa Beach by Beatriz Williams and I Found You by Lisa Jewell both had me on the edge of my seat!

I don't re-read usually unless it's a classic or children's novel that I am reading with my son.

The Summer House by Hannah McKinnon - can I be transported there right now?

 12. Most beautifully written book read in 2017?

Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer

13. Most Thought-Provoking/ Life-Changing Book of 2017?

I didn't read a life-changing book this year, but I was blown away by Evelyn Hugo and Taylor Jenkins Reid's raw talent.

 14. Book you can’t believe you waited UNTIL 2017 to finally read?

Big Little Lies  - wish I read it sooner!

 15. Favorite Passage/Quote From A Book You Read In 2017?

“Everything in life had its phases, and if you were smart, you learned to appreciate them all.  What really mattered, though, were the people in those moments with you. Memories are what we have and what we keep, and I held mine close. The ones I knew well, like a night on the beach with a boy who would always live in my heart, and the ones yet to come with another.”  - Sarah Dessen, Once and for All

16.Shortest & Longest Book You Read In 2017?

Mummies in the Morning (Magic Treehouse series) by Mary Pope Osborne - shortest book (read with my son!)
The Fiery Cross (Outlander series) by Diana Gabaldon -longest book read

17. Book That Shocked You The Most

The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simmons - I learned so much about the time period in Russia, which I found really shocking. It definitely inspired me to learn more about the Siege of Leningrad.

18. OTP OF THE YEAR (you will go down with this ship!)

Jamie and Claire Fraser, obviously.

19. Favorite Non-Romantic Relationship Of The Year:

BFFs - Judith and Frances Catherine from The Secret by Julie Garwood

24. Best Worldbuilding/Most Vivid Setting You Read This Year?

A Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon

28. Book That Crushed Your Soul?

13 Reasons Why - so, so many thoughts on this book!

29. Most Unique Book You Read In 2017?

The Hate U Give  - the author's use of voice was very strong and the style was fantastic. The children's book, The Book of Mistakes, was also really unique, very memorable and beautifully illustrated.

30. Book That Made You The Most Mad (doesn’t necessarily mean you didn’t like it)?

The Hate U Give - due to the fact that the injustice experienced in the book is something that happens daily in our world.
