November Confessions

Guys, this is not good. I have hit a reading slump. A major one. Not because I am uninterested in what I am reading, but because this month has been so hectic. I was really sick twice (TWICE!) thanks to my son sharing all of his preschool germs with me and my sons were sick a lot with just about everything...fevers, stomach bugs, and various colds. The worst part was the fact that once I got a child healthy, the next child was hit. It was a crazy month! I was feeling like such garbage that I wasn't able to read.

Plus, I don't know about you, but when I am sick, I like Netflix. I started and finished the show Mindhunter and absolutely LOVED it! I also finally started Stranger Things (season one). Am I the last person in the world to watch it? Even though scary stories aren't my thing, I am still really hooked.

I hope December is not only a healthier month for my family, but I hope I am able to read more! I miss it! What have you guys been up to?

1.  The One That Got Away by Melissa Pimentel - 3.5 out of 5 stars -Adult Fiction
2.  No Good Deed by Kara Connolly - 3.5 out of 5 stars - YA Fantasy
3.  The Bourbon Kings by J.R. Ward - 4 out of 5 stars - Adult Fiction - Review to come!

Early Reader/Chapter Books:
1.  Revolutionary War on Wednesday by Mary Pope Osborne
2.  Twister on Tuesday by Mary Pope Osborne
3.  Earthquake in the Early Morning by Mary Pope Osborne

I'm not going to do a November Top Five, because I didn't read my usual amount and that wouldn't really be fair. However, you can clearly see that The Bourbon Kings was my favorite read of the month! Such a fun book!

What I'm Loving This Month:
* doTerra's Serenity
* Honest Company's Organic All-Purpose Balm
* Peppermint ice cream
*Yankee Candle's Mulling Spices

I can't believe it's December! I am so excited for the holiday season! Let me know if you are planning on reading any holiday books. I hope to tackle Christmas in London this month; hopefully it will put me in a festive mood.

Happy Friday,

  2. I find it hard to concentrate on reading when I'm not feeling well too. Netflix is so much easier! I hope you have a wonderful holiday season with no illnesses in your family. I've been sick on and off this whole fall. I have a lot to catch up on :)

    I did read The One That Got Away. I sort of liked it but was also disappointed that it wasn't exactly a retelling of Persuasion. I usually have issues with Jane Austen retellings (with few exceptions like Longbourn) so maybe I should just stay away from them!

    I've read two holiday books so far. One was A Christmas Carol which we read in one of my book groups. I have some more Christmas books checked out from the library. We'll see if I get to read them. I have watched some Christmas Hallmark movies on DVD and my plans for the weekend involve watching some Christmas movies on Netflix and Amazon Prime. 'Tis the Season!

    Love Netflix too! I haven't started watching season 2 of Stranger Things, but I adored season 1. So good! Currently I'm watching The Handmaid's Tale, still need to watch episode 8 to 10. Will watch it tonight! :)

    I hope you have a great week!

  5. I haven't even started season one of Stranger Things yet, so you are not alone. Ha ha.

    I hope December is bright shiny and healthy for you and your family. I only put one book on my Goodreads Challenge this year to only use it as a counter. I was getting down on myself for not reading as much last year because of work responsibilities and illnesses and have felt way less pressured this year. Real life comes first and there is nothing we can do about it.👍

    Here's to a fabulous December. :)
