Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Underrated Books

This Top Ten Tuesday is all about underrated books.  So, what makes a book underrated? At least for this list it has to have 2,000 reviews or less on Goodreads. I tried to steer clear of fairly new releases and focus on some "older" ones. Here are some of my favorites that are considered underrated:

1.  Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend by Katie Finn - Who doesn't love revenge and the Hamptons? Plus, Katie Finn = Morgan Matson, which makes it a must read for me!

2.  The Forget-Me-Not Summer by Leila Howland - This is one of my favorite middle grade beach reads!

3.  The Kennedy Wives by Amber Hunt and David Batcher - I love all things Kennedy and thoroughly enjoyed this biography. Plus, you can't make this stuff up! There's major drama in the Kennedy family.

4.  The Summer After You and Me by Jennifer Salvato Doktorski- I am a sucker for a Jersey Shore setting and I loved that this book focused on Superstorm Sandy.

5.  The Last Summer at Chelsea Beach by Pam Jenoff - I love historical "beach reads" and fell in love with this one, especially because I appreciated the Philadelphia and Atlantic City settings.

6.  Tarnish by Katherine Longshore - Who doesn't love the Tudors for the YA crowd?

7.  Under a Dark Summer Sky by Vanessa Lafaye - Again, historical beach reads are my jam and the 1930s Key West setting is fantastic in this novel.

8.  Forbidden by Kimberley Griffiths Little - I really enjoyed this YA historical adventure/romance that takes place during the Bronze Age.

9.  Lady Catherine, the Earl, and the Real Downton Abbey by Fiona Carnarvon - You probably already know that I am obsessed with Downton Abbey and this novel is a glimpse into the real people who once lived there. Fascinating lives for sure!

10.  A Single Breath by Lucy Clarke - I love this fantastic beach read filled with an exotic setting, betrayal, secrets, and romance. A perfect book to throw in your beach bag.

So, what do you think of my "underrated" reads? What are some of your favorites? Let me know in the comments.  This meme is hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.

  1. I am kind of surprised that Pam Jenoff's book is underrated. She seems to be so popular! I liked Tarnish but haven't read most of the books on your list. I should give the Katie Finn book a try considering how much I love Morgan Matson's writing. I wonder if that one isn't rated as high because people don't know it's written by her.

    1. Me too! I definitely thought more people read her book as well. Katie Finn's series is a lot of fun, especially for the summertime. I bet it would be more popular if people realized it's Morgan Matson, like you said. Thanks for visiting, Christina!

    1. Yes! If you are a fan of the show, you'll love a glimpse into the real people that live there. Their lives are just as interesting as Downton Abbey. Thanks for visiting, Jacque!

  5. Like Christina, I was surprised to see Pam Jenoff's book on the list. She's the only author you've listed though I'm familiar with. All of these books sound good. I'm not completely caught up yet with Downton Abbey, but I love the show. I am definitely adding Lady Catherine, the Earl, and the Real Downton Abbey to my wish list. Thanks for sharing!

    Here is my list.

    1. I was surprised as well to see her novel had less than 2,000 reviews on GR. If you are a DA fan, you should definitely check out Lady Catherine---compelling stuff for sure! Thanks or visiting!
