Friday Five (14)

Happy Friday! Sometimes I like to talk about what I am currently into that is not necessarily book related. Here's what I have been up to/thinking about/enjoying lately. Let me know what you think!

1.  My Birthday - That's right! Today is my birthday. I hope it involves some wine, some cake and some quality time with my favorite people. I've been going through some health stuff lately and it has really put a damper on my birthday, but whenever I am down, I always turn to books. Are you surprised? ha. I find solace in reading about the Kennedys, specifically Jackie, because is there a more resilient person out there? If you think you have bad luck, then you should read what this family has been through.  I also love to refer back to my favorite Mary Oliver poems. She just gets me.

(This is last year's image - new one coming soon!)
2.  Summer Kickoff - Guys, this is my THING. I live for this. I can't wait.  What books are you excited to put in your beach bag this year? Can you believe it will be my 5th year doing this?

3. Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee - The cover came out! Do you guys like it? I happen to love it.

4.  Mr. Selfridge - Season three starts this Sunday. Yay! Anyone else going to be watching?

5. Mad Men - Get your Vodka Gimlets ready, because Mad Men returns April 5th. This is another one of my favorite shows. I can't believe this is the last season. I hope that the ending works...I have high hopes, so fingers crossed!

Happy Friday and thanks for visiting!

    1. Thanks, Leanna! I should be back to myself in a few days. Thanks for the kind thoughts. Me too! Now we just need warm weather here. I noticed the other day that Ireland was warmer than here in PA!?!?! Thanks for visiting!

  2. Happy birthday! Hope you enjoy it and that you're feeling top-notch soon. It is hard to believe you've been hosting your summer extravaganza for five years . . . though we won't be actually hitting any beaches this year, I'll look forward to seeing what everyone else is checking out! Summer reading is just so fun. :)

    1. Thanks, Meg! I know, crazy right?! Time sure is flying. I hear you about not going to the beach...it's totally different once you have a kid, but before you know it, he'll be coming with you on your beach trips and you'll be chasing him all around the beach! I don't get much beach time reading done anymore! Thanks for visiting and I hope you are feeling well!

  4. Well, I hate to hear that you're going through some difficult things and I hope that your birthday is wonderful and just what you need. This will be my first year to follow along in the full Summer reading fun, and I can't wait to see what you have in store for us! I love the cover for Go Set A Watchman; I'm going to HAVE to reread To Kill A Mockingbird before this one, though - GAH! Hope you have a great weekend and that you have a great birthday evening; I think birthdays should be celebrated for AT LEAST a week, so this should just be the jumping off point for you... :)

    1. Yay! I hope you enjoy my Summer Kickoff. I have so much fun sharing all the new beach reads out there. I love the cover of Go Set a Watchman as well. TKAM is the best...can't wait to hear your thoughts. Thanks so much! I am hoping I will feel better tomorrow or Sunday to head out with the husband...so yes, birthdays should be celebrated for the week! :) Thanks for visiting, Tara!

  5. Happy belated birthday! I hope you are feeling better and that you had a great day.

I love that Mary Oliver poem. I first heard of it when I read Golden by Jessi Kirby.

Forget spring. I can't wait for summer! I am so tired of this cold weather. :( I am in the mood for some summery books so once I finish my obligation reading I'll have to look for a good summer book to pick up.

    1. Thanks, Christina! I loved how Kirby incorporated that poem in Golden...one of my favorite aspects of that book. I know, right?! This weather has been so unseasonably cold. it's depressing. I could go for some sunshine and warmth and I am sure you could too. I have a feeling we are going to go from having the heat on to air conditioning! Thanks for visiting, Christina!

  6. I hope your birthday was fabulous! I also really like the new Harper Lee cover. It fits nicely with To Kill a Mockingbird. There are a ton of books I'm looking forward to this summer--and I'll actually have time to read!
