Some Good News, Some Confessions, and a Hiatus

I don't know if you have noticed, but the last few months, I haven't been blogging as regularly.  Why you may ask? Well, the good news is I'm PREGNANT!  We are so excited and feel very blessed, but man, that first trimester kicked my butt!  Either I was too tired to do much of anything or too nauseous.  Now that I am out of the first trimester and almost half way through my pregnancy (woo hoo!), I am starting to get back into my old reading habits.  By the way, any moms out there recommend any must read baby books? Let me know.

Waving hi! (This is from the first trimester)

But here comes the bad news.....my job is taking up all of my reading time.  We are currently rewriting the English curriculum and thinking of adding new books to our literature circle unit.  The theme is "survival", so if you guys have any ideas, please share!  I am starting to read books for that purpose and in turn, I have had to put my personal and review TBR pile on hold.  But not forever!

I am going to take a few weeks off to sort out a few things in my personal life (my to-do list is massive!) and to get started on my reading for work without feeling guilty about neglecting my blog.  I'll be sure to share any good books that I come across.

Once I'm back to my normal blogging schedule, I will be getting you guys ready for my second annual Summer Kickoff feature, a fun giveaway for my birthday, and of course posting some YA reviews.  Thanks for sticking around, being patient with me, and visiting my blog. I really appreciate it.

Although I won't be blogging for a few weeks, I am still going to be on Twitter, Pinterest and Goodreads.  So, say hi! And the next time you see me, I will be able to share if Baby Book Addict is a boy or a girl.

Talk to you soon,

Have you seen the series of BabyLit board books? They've got Pride & Prejudice, Romeo & Juliet, Jane Eyre & Alice in Wonderland so far -- little Baby Book Addict may need them ;o)
Huge congrats and hugs and don't worry about us - just make sure you show us pictures as they come! :o)

  4. Oh sweetie! How exciting! *hug* Congratulations!

    When are you due?

OMG I so feel you on the first trimester. I was nauseated all day and all night for 2 months straight. "Morning Sickness" my hiney!

I'm reading Jo Frost's Confident Baby Care (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1354491.Jo_Frost_s_Confident_Baby_Care) and it's SO good. It covers the first year. Even though I'm only up to 0-3 months in my reading. I was just telling my husband how good it is and how I wish I had read the chapter I just read before the baby. Allot of what she talks about we figured out on our own. She just taught me an awesome burping tip. (I'm like the world's worst burper)
I didn't love What to Expect and Belly Laughs was funny but not fantastic.

    Best of luck!

    1. Juju- I will definitely check out that book. It sounds promising. I did pick up a copy of Belly Laughs for fun. I started it and am already laughing out loud. What to Expect makes me nervous- so I try to avoid it. :) Thanks for the suggestions and kind thoughts!

  5. Congratulations! I'm sure you'll be a wonderful mom. :)

The first thing I thought of when you said "survival" as the English curriculum theme is "The Hunger Games", if you haven't already read it. :)

  10. Congratulations! That is wonderful news :)

Good luck with the curriculum rewrite. That sounds like quite a project. When I hear survival, I automatically think of The Hunger Games and other dystopian fiction :)

  12. Congratulations Christina!!!! Welcome to the best years of your life!

My favorite book to prepare you for parenthood is "Little Lamb, Who Made Thee?" by Walter Wangerin. It's not practical advice so much as it will inspire you not just in your parenting but in your teaching too!

Thanks for sharing your wonderful news with us!
