My Can't Miss TV Shows

I love reading, but I also am a die hard fan of a few favorite TV shows.  When I am not reading, you'll find me teaching, grading essays, traveling, spending time with family and friends and catching up on a wonderful date with my DVR.

My Top Ten "Can't Miss" TV shows:

1.  Vampire Diaries- For the first time in my life, I can actually say that I enjoyed the TV show over the book series. It's so much more entertaining; plus, there's some cute boys on this show. I'm definitely a fan of Alaric

2.  True Blood- I love the Sookie Stackhouse series and the TV show; I can't wait till June!  I will admit it got a little weird/intense last season, but I am hooked. (Team Northman!)

3.  Boardwalk Empire- I knew I would love this series when I first read about it last year in Entertainment Weekly.  Atlantic City during the Prohibition? What's not to love?

4.  Friday Night Lights- I can't wait for the final season, although I am sad it's coming to an end. This is one of the best TV shows out there.

5.  Glee- I am such a Gleek! This show is sure to make me laugh and sometimes you just need a good power ballad and Sue Sylvester.

6.  Gossip Girl- This show is so, SO fabulous. It's filled with such scandal, juicy gossip and great fashion; I love it!

7.  Grey's Anatomy- I have always loved this show and for me, it never gets old. I guess it helps that McDreamy and McSteamy are easy on the eyes.

8.  Giuliana and Bill- At first, I wasn't sure about this show, but after a few episodes, I was totally and completely captivated by this adorable couple.  Last season broke my heart though.

9.  The Bachelor- I am actually pretty embarrassed that I just typed this, but I won't deny my obsession with this show. I find it fascinating; the women are nuts.... Crazy much?!?

10.  Mad Men- This is one of the best TV shows out there.  It's smart and a lot of fun! I wish I could work at Don Draper's office.

My Top Five TV Shows I Wish I Could Resurrect:

1.  Felicity- I own all of these shows on DVD.  To say I loved this TV show is putting it mildly.

2.  Dawson's Creek- I adored this show! I was pretty obsessed with Pacey and I loved the character of Joey.  I remember watching the first episode when I was in high school.

3.  90210- I'm talking about the Brenda years. I had a poster of Luke Perry and Jason Priestley on my wall when I was growing up. I loved the drama! Donna Marin graduates!

4.   The Tudors- I wish this show would come back on and maybe focus on Elizabeth I instead.  Plus, I miss me some Henry Cavill

5.  Friends- Along with the rest of America, I loved this show. It was one of the funniest shows on TV; plus, I love Jennifer Aniston.

So what shows are your can-not-miss TV shows? Which ones do you wish you could bring back? Hope you have a great Friday!

  1. Right now my only can't miss show is Glee. I watch the episondes on Hulu since I can't watch anything but DVDs on my TV (it is analog). I was watching Vampire Diaries for awhile during first season but then I missed some episodes and got so behind that I stopped.

Shows that I miss: Gilmore Girls (favorite show of all time-I currently own the first two seasons and plan to get the rest), Friends (I didn't watch it much when it was originally on the air but became a fan when it was syndicsted), Frasier, and Ugly Betty.

I watched The Tudors on DVD and I liked the second season but was disappointed by the last season, which in my opinion was the worst season. I do think it would have been interesting if they had continued the show and focused on Elizabeth. Oh, well. I guess the storyline wouldn't have been salacious enough for Showtime. They really liked to portray that aspect of the characters even if it was inaccurate.

  2. While I don't agree with the current shows I totally agree with the shows you wish you could bring back.

I LOVED Felicity, old 90210, and Friends.

    *happy nostalgic sigh*

Definitely going to check out some of the other shows you listed!

  4. Christina- I really liked Gilmore Girls as well. You are so right about The Tudors- Elizabeth the first probably isn't "exciting" enough for Showtime. I do miss the show though!

Juju-I'm glad you agree with me about Felicity, 90210 and Friends---soo good. I miss them!

YA Vampire- I'm glad you agree with me on a few of them! Thanks for stopping by!

  5. I miss Dawson's Creek too! Loved that one too. I really had a thing for Dawson. lol. I also miss Roswell & Will&Grace.

Loved the Tudors. I still have to buy season three. Everything that has to do with the Tudors is worth watching it. :)

OMG, big fan of Glee too. And of Fringe, Supernatural and Medium. So many shows. LOVE>

  6. You have a fabulous list there Christina, so many of them are my "not to miss" shows as well. And I adored Felicity! I had a major crush on Scott Speedman all through that show, I wouldn't mind if some channel wanted to re-run all the seasons:)

  7. Oh I love Glee. That's about the only other regular one on here that I watch though. I haven't had the nerve to try out Vampire Diaries yet (when Netflix starts streaming it, maybe) and I don't get HBO so I can't watch any of the ones you mentioned there even though I really want too.
My other can't miss shows are: Castle, Project Runway, Dancing With the Stars, Doctor Who, Pretty Little Liars, and Greek.
Shows I really miss: Daria, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, Stargate (original, not this SGU junk...)Gilmore Girls, and Ugly Betty

  8. Vampire Diaries is definitely top of my list too. Can't miss that one! I also love Grey's, but I have catching up to do on that. I don't think it's as strong as it used to be, but Izzie was one of my fave characters, and maybe that's why!

Boardwalk Empire just started over here, but I like what I've seen so far!

I loved Dawson's Creek too! One of My most missed shows is Melrose Place. I was addicted! Pity the remake didn't quite work. lol!

  9. We have an eerily similar taste in TV shows.

I never watched 90210 the first time it was on TV, but I watched in when it was on reruns and I totally enjoyed it.

I also like watching Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, and Mad Men (Peggy is awesome! Actually, so is Joan, and Don.)

I'm so sad that The Tudors is over. JRM was the perfect choice for Henry VIII. Plus Henry Cavill was majorly cute as Charles Brandon. I remember when the last episode of Dawson's Creek aired, I was so sad that it was over.

  10. Great post - I really enjoyed reading your list.

I'm a massive fan of Glee and The Vampire Diaries too! Both of these shows are absolutely unmissable. I also love Grey's Anatomy because it has some amazing characters and storylines.

I wish I could bring back Roswell because it's my favourite show of all time!

  11. Vampire Diaries for the win! Absolutely love that show along with True Blood, Criminal Minds (which is my absolute favourite) and CSI. The 3 shows I wish they could bring back are fairly new but got cancelled - hate it when they cancel shows that show so much promise. Those shows are: Bionic Woman, Women's Murder Club and Blood Ties (a vamp show with the hottest vamp next to Eric Northman and Damon Salvatore). Oh, I'm making myself sad just thinking about it.

  12. What a fun post! I have Vampire Diaries on my Sky+ and am slowly catching up with the rest of the world.

Series I would love to resurrect? Stargate Atlantis. It was true love!

You know my favourite show ever is The Mentalist thought, right? Can't believe it isn't on your list!

  13. I love this post--and your #1 and #2 shows are my favorites. I am a Vampire Diaries-aholic. Email me if you ever want to dish. I know them all by heart :)

I also agree with the commenter who mentioned Gilmore Girls. That is one of my "comfort shows" when I'm home sick from work and want something girly and sweet to watch! I never actually tried Felicity but I have a feeling I would've loved it. GREAT post, so much fun to read :)

  15. GLEE glee GLEE! Actually, I'm a fan of several show syou mentioned, but I don't have time to watch most of them. =0( I DO however make sure I stay up to date on my GLEE epi's. Hulu.com and I have a "date" each week to catch up on it. ^_^

AS for the resurrected shows...Yay Dawson's Creek! Yay Felicity! Can I add Gilmore Girls, and a short lived show called PUSHING DAISIES plus a VERY short lived show called Young Americans? Both great and both met their ends far too soon.

Great share...and now I'm off to unearth some of those DVDs... hehe. ^_^
