Teaser Tuesday #43

This is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.
  • Grab your read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title and the author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers.

Sloppy Firsts by Megan McCafferty

"I know it's bizarre that I don't gush on and on about someone who means so much to me.  But that's exactly why I won't.  When you say too much about anything important, it always ends up sounding more trivial than it is."  (page 6)

*I just started reading Sloppy Firsts and it already has me laughing out loud. The main character, Jessica, is transporting me back to high school. I can connect to her high school experience, so far, better than any novel I've read before.  Plus, Megan McCafferty does an amazing job with Jessica's voice. It's so unique - I love it! Now I know why so many people adore this novel!

  1. Love the teaser! However, I'm not sure I want to be transported back to high school. It wasn't a shining moment for me. I have two this week. My YA teaser comes from Fall for Anything by Courtney Summers and my adult teaser comes from Side Jobs by Jim Butcher. Happy reading!

  2. I like your teaser. I've heard so much praise for the Jessica Darling series, but have never managed to get it to the top of my TBR. I'll have to try harder!

  5. Oh my goodness, Megan McCafferty is one of my all-time favorite authors! I loved Sloppy Firsts but enjoyed Second Helpings even more. It's such a great series -- I never wanted it to end! Enjoy!

  6. Not my type of books, but the teaser looks interesting. I hope that you are enjoying your book. Wanna see what my Teaser for Tuesday is?

  7. Here is my teaser from Out of Touch by Brandon Tietz (Page vii):

I used to be the kind of guy that would have no problem reading Playboy or Hustler on an airplane, but that me in "the before," and nearly everything has changed since that time in my life a little over a year ago.

This is not a coming of age story.

If that's what you're wanting then I suggest you put this down and read something else: something with a happy ending. Like Penthouse.

    Or: the funny pages.

This is me giving you your official warning.

Because where this goes, you might not be ready for.
