In My Mailbox #37 - Beach Edition

Nevermore by Kelly Creagh
*I downloaded this one to my Nook. I really enjoy Edgar Allan Poe, so I am sure I will like this one.
Goodreads says, "Cheerleader Isobel Lanley is horrified when she is paired with Varen Nethers for an English project, which is due—so unfair—on the day of the rival game. Cold and aloof, sardonic and sharp-tongued, Varen makes it clear he’d rather not have anything to do with her either. But when Isobel discovers strange writing in his journal, she can’t help but give this enigmatic boy with the piercing eyes another look.  Soon, Isobel finds herself making excuses to be with Varen. Steadily pulled away from her friends and her possessive boyfriend, Isobel ventures deeper and deeper into the dream world Varen has created through the pages of his notebook, a realm where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life.  As her world begins to unravel around her, Isobel discovers that dreams, like words, hold more power than she ever imagined, and that the most frightening realities are those of the mind. Now she must find a way to reach Varen before he is consumed by the shadows of his own nightmares."

The Hollow by Jessica Verday
*I recently went to Jessica Verday's book signing and picked up a signed copy of The Hollow. I also am hosting a giveaway of a signed copy of this book, so check it out!
Goodreads says, "Just when Abbey starts to feel that she might survive all this, she learns a secret that makes her question everything she thought she knew about her best friend. How could Kristen have kept silent about so much? And could this secret have led to her death? As Abbey struggles to understand Kristen's betrayal, she uncovers a frightening truth that nearly unravels her—one that will challenge her emerging love for Caspian, as well as her own sanity. When Abbey's best friend, Kristen, vanishes at the bridge near Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, everyone else is all too quick to accept that Kristen is dead?and rumors fly that her death was no accident. Abbey goes through the motions of mourning her best friend, but privately, she refuses to believe that Kristen is really gone. Then she meets Caspian, the gorgeous and mysterious boy who shows up out of nowhere at Kristen's funeral, and keeps reappearing in Abbey's life. Caspian clearly has secrets of his own, but he's the only person who makes Abbey feel normal again...but also special."

Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink
*I also went to Michelle Zink's book signing and picked up a signed copy of this book. I've heard some great things about this series; I am excited to start reading it. Plus, Michelle was so nice!
Goodreads says, "Sixteen-year-old Lia Milthorpe and her twin sister Alice have just become orphans, and, as Lia discovers, they have also become enemies. The twins are part of an ancient prophecy that has turned generations of sisters against each other. To escape from a dark fate and to remain in the arms of her beloved boyfriend James, Lia must end the prophecy before her sister does. Only then will she understand the mysterious circumstances of her parents' deaths, the true meaning of the strange mark branded on her wrist, and the lengths to which her sister will go to defeat her."

Delirium by Lauren Oliver
*This book doesn't come out until February, so I am very excited to get my hands on an ARC through Book It Forward Tours. I love Lauren Oliver's writing style and Before I Fall was an outstanding read. I hear this one is a bit of a dystopia, so I am sure to like it!
Goodreads says, "Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that once love -the deliria- blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the governments demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holoway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.  But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love."

This is my beach edition of IMM, because I am writing this post from sunny Florida. I'm on a mini-vacation and it has been extremely relaxing.  It's nice to see the beach and sun again. :)

What did you get in your mailbox?  Have you read any of these books? Let me know what you think.   This meme is hosted by The Story Siren.

  13. Such an awesome stack of books! I have read Prophecy of the Sisters and really enjoyed that one. I read about 100 pages of Nevermore and put it aside for a bit--I think because the paranormal stuff was a little slow to take off but I'm going to go back to it. I've heard so many good things! And DELIRIUM--ooh so jealous! Which will you read first? :)
