In My Mailbox #21

Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler
*I bought this one last weekend down the shore at an independent bookstore on the boardwalk.  I have been meaning to read it, especially since I have read so many great reviews.
Goodreads says, "Don't worry, Anna. I'll tell her, okay? Just let me think about the best way to do it."  "Okay."  "Promise me? Promise you won't say anything?"  "Don't worry." I laughed. "It's our secret, right?"  According to her best friend Frankie, twenty days in is the perfect opportunity to have a summer fling, and if they meet one boy ever day, there's a pretty good chance Anna will find her first summer romance. Anna lightheartedly agrees to the game, but there's something she hasn't told Frankie---she's already had that kind of romance, and it was with Frankie's older brother, Matt, just before his tragic death one year ago."

Sea Change by Aimee Friedman
*I also bought this one when I was down the shore.  It looks like a great beach read; plus, there has been a lot of buzz in the blogosphere about this one.
Goodreads says, "16-year-old Miranda Merchant is great at science...and not so great with boys. After major drama with her boyfriend and (now ex) best friend, she's happy to spend the summer on small, mysterious Selkie Island, helping her mother sort out her late grandmother's estate.  There, Miranda finds new friends and an island with a mysterious, mystical history, presenting her with facts her logical, scientific mind can't make sense of. She also meets Leo, who challenges everything she thought she knew about boys, friendship...and reality.  Is Leo hiding something? Or is he something that she never could have imagined?"

Signed Copies of Wings and Spells by Aprilynne Pike
*I've already read and reviewed these novels; however, they were part of my classroom library.  Thanks to a contest at Emily's Reading Room, not only did I win these two fantastic novels, but they are also signed!  They already have a special spot on my bookshelf.  Plus, my package included signed bookmarks from Bree Despain (author of The Dark Divine), Jeri Smith-Ready (author of Shade) and Leah Cypess (author of Mistwood).  I was pretty excited--thank you Emily!  Oh, and if you want to know what Wings and/or Spells is about, feel free to read my reviews!
The Red Queen by Philippa Gregory
*I am so excited to be part of the blog tour for this novel as I am such a HUGE fan of Gregory.  I loved The White Queen and can't wait to read this ARC.  A big thank you to Simon & Schuster UK for this opportunity.
Amazon says, "Heiress to the red rose of Lancaster, Margaret Beaufort never surrenders her belief that her house is the true ruler of England and that she has a great destiny before her. Her ambitions are disappointed when her sainted cousin Henry VI fails to recognize her as a kindred spirit, and she is even more dismayed when he sinks into madness. Her mother mocks her plans, revealing that Margaret will always be burdened with the reputation of her father, one of the most famously incompetent English commanders in France. But worst of all for Margaret is when she discovers that her mother is sending her to a loveless marriage in remote Wales. Married to a man twice her age, quickly widowed, and a mother at only fourteen, Margaret is determined to turn her lonely life into a triumph. She sets her heart on putting her son on the throne of England regardless of the cost to herself, to England, and even to the little boy. Disregarding rival heirs and the overwhelming power of the York dynasty, she names him Henry, like the king; sends him into exile; and pledges him in marriage to her enemy Elizabeth of York’s daughter. As the political tides constantly move and shift, Margaret charts her own way through another loveless marriage, treacherous alliances, and secret plots. She feigns loyalty to the usurper Richard III and even carries his wife’s train at her coronation. Widowed a second time, Margaret marries the ruthless, deceitful Thomas, Lord Stanley, and her fate stands on the knife edge of his will. Gambling her life that he will support her, she then masterminds one of the greatest rebellions of the time—all the while knowing that her son has grown to manhood, recruited an army, and now waits for his opportunity to win the greatest prize."
What did you guys get in your mailbox?  Have you read any of these books? Let me know what you think.  I look forward to checking out everyone's  mailboxes. Have a great day!  This meme is hosted by The Story Siren.
