May Confessions

May is definitely one of my favorite months.  This month truly flew by though.  I can't believe tomorrow is June 1st.  I just got back from a beautiful Memorial Day weekend at the beach. Weather wise, it was amazing for May. It was actually HOT at the beach! It felt like July! I hit up most of my favorite places this weekend. We eat at Mike's Seafood on the dock, got coffee at Coffee Talk in Stone Harbor, hit up my favorite beach, went to a Memorial Day party, and lastly,  happy hour on the bay.  I am definitely looking forward to June and the end of the school year.   I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.

Books Read in May:

1.  Mistwood by Leah Cypess
2.  City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare
3.  City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
4.  Birthmarked by Caragh M. O'Brien
5.  Burned (House of Night #7) by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast
6.  Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy #5)  by Richelle Mead
7.  Picture the Dead by Adele Griffin and Lisa Brown

My May Top Five:

1.  Favorite Book:  Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead - I can't stop gushing about this series.
2.  Biggest Let Down: Mistwood by Leah Cypess - Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed by this book.
3.  Biggest Surprise:  Picture the Dead by Adele Griffin and Lisa Brown - I will be posting my review this week. I loved this book!
4.  Favorite Post:  Cassandra Clare and Holly Black book signing
5.  Favorite Part of May: My long weekend at the beach.  It was so relaxing to sit at the beach and read a good book.

  1. I love May too. If we are lucky we have warm weather without being overwhelmed. I feel like this year is just going too quickly. It seems like Christmas will be here in the blink of an eye.

The beach sounds fantastic. Unfortunately I live in Ohio so there isn't exactly a real beach near me. I'm glad you had a nice weekend. My mom is a teacher and this is their last week before summer vacation. She is so excited (and I don't blame her).

I agree with you about Mistwood. That is probably the most disappointing book I read this month too since there was so much hype about it. My favorite book this month was also Spirit Bound although I also really liked Before I Fall and Cleopatra's Daughter.

I look forward to your review of Picture the Dead. I'm glad you loved it. I've heard really positive things about it.

Sounds like you had a great month. I'm sure June will be even better!

Hope you are enjoying the "City Of" books. I have yet to get to them but have heard wonderful things!

  6. I confess to being a little jealous of your beach time. I would love a beach day but alas now is not the time. You must nearly be on summer holidays too. We still have about 8 weeks left.

  7. May is my favorite month since it's my bday month. :D I'm glad to hear you had a lot of fun this holiday weekend! You had a great paranormal reading month. I've heard some really good things about Picture the Dead from newspaper reviewers. Don't know if I'll end up reading it, but I'm looking forward to Adele's upcoming book, The Julian Game. I'm excited to see what you have in store for us in June!

  8. Becky- 8 weeks? Hmm...that's long, but I'll be back in school August 20th and you'll still be care-free! :)

Kris- I didn't realize it until you said it, but I did read mostly paranormal books this month. Ha! Good call! Happy belated birthday by the way!
